PC Gary Sipson has now taken up his post as Southwell, Caunton and Sutton-on-Trent Neighbourhood Beat Manager. For the time being, PC Sipson will continue to cover the Farnsfield, Lowdham and Bilsthorpe Beat where he has been the PC until a new PC is appointed. I am lobbying to make sure that this is very soon, as these two beats are some of the biggest in the whole of the Nottinghamshire Police Force area!

PCSO Richard Dunn continues to work in the beat. It is good to welcome PC Gary Sipson to his new Beat. I look forward to crime continuing to fall under his leadership. However, we are still waiting to see our second PCSO. We were promised another PCSO for the village Beat, and I have already pressed the Chief Superintendent for an early announcement.

Crime in Southwell and the villages continued to fall in December. The Safer Neighbourhood Group which met last week heard that burglaries were down, and that crime prevention is taking effect in the area. However, fuel theft continues to be a concern, with thefts of number plates and even one example of significant preparation for a theft of commercial diesel fuel being reported.
