Is this the worst road in Nottinghamshire?

Fifteen potholes in twenty metres. Is this the worst road in Nottinghamshire

Fifteen potholes in twenty metres.
Is this the worst road in Nottinghamshire

The Conservatives have already admitted publically that ‘they have gone backwards’ in repairing roads in Nottinghamshire since they promised four years ago to repair our roads.

I seem to have discovered one of the very worst roads in the County – Arnold Avenue in Southwell. Within a space of twenty metres there are fifteen potholes deeper than 2″! If you know of a worse road let me know by mailing southwellfocus@gmail.com

I have reported these pothole on Arnold Ave to the County Council – but will they repair them properly? You can see from the picture above that previous potholes have been repaired on the road – but these repairs were done reasonably well. Before, NCC cut out the road and laid undersurface then a smooth top layer

Now the Tories have imposed a system where a pile of asphalt is dropped into the hole – with no pre preparation, and then rolled over. Sometimes, this has been using the tyres of the asphalt lorry!

It is no wonder that people are saying the Conservatives are wasting money by repeatedly repairing potholes and not doing the job properly in the first place.

The potholes have been reported under the NCC Ref no. 102709670

News update April 20

Just two weeks after I reported the condition of Arnold Avenue, the potholes are been filled in! This is not the first time that action by the Focus Team seems to have resulted in quick action. [There are other repairs [for example The Close, Upton, Main St, Carlton Lane Sutton,] that have been done after I have reported them in. Some of the potholes have been there for months before – in one case nearly two years!

Residents are saying thank you for our action – and point out that they need a County Councillor who actually takes action, not just say that they will do things but then forget! Evidence of inaction has been requested but despite being legally obliged to do so within twenty days the Conservative County Council has not replied – perhaps they are embarrassed by what will be revealed!
