BT say that they are ‘lots of exchanges being upgraded’ for optical fibre cables for fast broadband every week as [they] work towards having superfast fibre broadband available to two-thirds of the UK by end Spring 2014.’

However as you can see from the map below, Southwell Exchange is not part of the plans yet!

No ‘current plans’ for the Southwell, Sutton-on-Trent or
Caunton exchanges to be upgraded to optical fibre
delivery. So yet again our villages in rural Nottinghamshire
are missing out

After much puffery by the Conservative Councillors, we seem no closer to getting fast broadband in Southwell and the villages. After coming so close in 2011 we cannot keep being put down the list. It seems that we will have to make sure that this happens for ourselves! Let’s get Southwell on fast broadband.
