Crime issues update – from PC Tony Hayes and PCSO Richard Dunn

by Peter Harris on 10 April, 2012

I have heard from our PCSO Richard Dunn with some more crime news.

Richard says “unfortunately we had a number of vehicles damaged on Station Road, Southwell at the beginning of this month. Somebody has gone down the side of vehicles with a sharp implement and scratched from one end to the other, causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage. One of the residents has now had to put up with this moronic act of vandalism on numerous occasions.

These incidents were happening on a regular basis, especially last year, so we got together with Newark and Sherwood District Council and had a temporary camera installed to one of the lamposts on Station Road. This seemed to stop the problem but the camera was needed elsewhere and was taken down at Xmas. Due to these incidents occuring again, I haveĀ been in touch with the Council at Kelham Hall and will hopefully see the return of the camera. Some residents were asking why the camera was taken down in the first place, as I said we only have a few of these camera’s and other area’s with higher crime and ASB rates were in more need. Anyone with any information regarding this crime please call 101 and quote incident numberĀ  271-01042012.

We have also had a number of thefts from local shops in Southwell, 2 youths have been dealt with for shoplifting and enquiries are still ongoing with others.”

If anyone would like direct mails from Richard, please get in t9uch with him or PC Tony Hayes directly on richard.dunn@nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk.
