The appointment of John Dodd as the Head of both Dean Hole Caunton and Manners Sutton Averham is welcomed.
Small schools are finding it very hard to appoint new headteachers.
The retirement of the head at Averham meant a potentially difficult time for one of the three schools [Kneesall, Dean Hole and Manners Sutton] in our local group of small schools called 3KANDO.
Peter Harris [who was, previously, the head of a small primary school]
said “the closer working together of village schools is a real chance for our small primary schools to improve even more by sharing ideas.
Otherwise, the pressure will be for schools to become larger – which
could mean closure for our village schools.”
The appointment of a Head for both Caunton and Averham Schools is a welcome step in maintaining high quality schooling for our primary age children in the villages.
